Born in Sion, Switzerland, Demes is an active and pioneering figure on the Valais graffiti scene. A founding member of the ADP collective, he has been painting and repainting his home canton since the 90s, and continues to do so today with the same vivacity. His work is mainly based on the elaboration of tag lettering, mixing colors and graphic compositions. His art evolves through the tireless repetition of his lettering, to which he attributes a different character with each attempt.

She has been painting in the street since 1997, and her training as a screen printer led her to turn to color and the world of illustration and publishing. She quickly felt the need to represent the human figure.

Her travels and love of Africa led her to become a member of the RBS crew, based in Senegal. She paints the faces of children, women and men she meets on her travels.

Sculpting colorful, realistic figures, often based on her own photos, with her own distinctive touch and sensitivity, she questions being and defends humanist, feminist and pan-African values. Her intense portraits never leave you indifferent, challenging those who look at them: a face-to-face encounter with themselves.

Helga Zumstein, a 58-year-old self-taught painter from Brig (Valais), accurately captures everyday life and transforms ordinary scenes into subtle, emotional art pieces. Her style combines humor, discreet criticism and a sensual touch, while leaving room for interpretation through a reduced color palette and suggested details. Since 2013, she has been publishing a small painting online every week, earning her the attention of New York’s Agora Gallery, among others.

At the age of 40, after years as a schoolteacher, mother and self-taught painter, she completed a 3.5-year course at the Bern School of Art and Design. She combines photography and painting, believing that the two media complement each other. Organized and inquisitive, she takes part in collective and cross-disciplinary projects, such as the exhibition at Leukerbad Castle and the publication of the illustrated book “Witwensommer”.

Lucerne / Switzerland

Vero and Marco Schmid are a duo of Swiss artists. They have been working together under the name “QueenKong” since 2009. In the cooperative process, they both found ways to express themselves individually. The result is a synergy of images that focus on factors that create positive vibrations. They like to be inspired by things that cross their path.

A mutual interconnection is gently but firmly reflected in their work. The diversity of their style knows no boundaries and is often characterized by a combination of multi-layering and simplicity. They use elaborate stencil repetitions and the recurring knitting motif. They create bold, colorful images. The combination of their work is characterized by many years of experience with spray painting (since 1992) and the relaxed approach with the brush, which also allows for imperfection.

The origins of graphic design, as well as a passion for imagery in the form of photography and film, are repeatedly reflected in their art. QueenKong loves to share color and good vibes. They have also given workshops for children in Mozambique, Brazil and Switzerland. The family expanded with the birth of their daughter Marla Amber in 2018.

Serval has been playing with light and shade since 1992. His passion for and knowledge of classical and contemporary painting have profoundly influenced his work, and set him apart from other urban artists of his generation. Invited to exhibit and paint around the world for over 20 years, he brings his deep knowledge of urban cultures and his passion for sharing and connecting to every journey.

His work as an illustrator completes the balance he seeks between abstraction and narrative, between emotion and mastery. An artist whose mastery of aerosol is recognized worldwide, Serval has been studying and working for several years to deepen the links between his work as a painter, his life as a dancer and the texts he writes in the course of his projects.

Resident artist at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Genève since 2016, his abstractions lead to a depth of reflection and sharing that his years of university studies have shaped both in terms of subject matter and accessibility, from urban spaces to gallery canvases.

Lisa discovered her artistic sensibility as a child, taking harp lessons and developing a passion for music. In search of new sensations and ways of expressing herself, she intuitively turned to painting. Natural and observant, she explores a simple, colorful figurative style inspired by her environment and the music she listens to.

Alcina Ribeiro Hamdi, born in 1985, in the heart of the Swiss mountains. After a brief spell at university in Barcelona studying translation and interpreting, she decided to leave the benches to study various alternative and mystical therapies in order to understand the human being and his powerful resilience in a holistic way. Exploring the inside as well as the outside by traveling allows her to write more alertly.

She co-created Éditions À l’Envers, putting her hands in ink to print precious art books in intaglio. Then, for a time, she ceased her publishing activities and embarked on a long journey, inspiring a project of videos and poems read aloud, as well as several writings. The company was then renamed Éditons Larguer les Amarres. She has published two collections of poems, “froissée” followed by “aurore”, and is launching a series of texts set to voice, the first of which is available on Spotify and elsewhere.
