The exhibition<\/h3>\n

Imagined by Art Valais and its curator Issam Rezgui, the exhibition “M\u00e9moire & Mouvement” addresses the valorization of the past and the questioning of the future. It presents 175 original works by more than 30 artists and is divided into 17 stations, four series of installations, and three exhibition spaces. <\/p>\n

After the opening of the Artistic Residency in 2019 in the historic Manor House of the Domain, Art Valais presents today for the 175th anniversary of the Mont d’Or, an exhibition designed to take you on a journey through space and time.<\/p>\n

From spring to autumn 2023, the temporary exhibition “Memory & Movement” addresses the valorization of the past and the questioning of the future with four types and series of outdoor installations and three exhibition spaces.<\/p>\n

“<\/span><\/span>Dans l’air du vent“<\/span><\/span> series<\/h3>\n

\u00abDans l\u2019air du vent\u00bb, marks Movement, a symbol of change and prospects. Treated under the prism of contemporary art with installations as colossal as they are light, this series exposes the visions of six renowned Swiss and international graffiti artists. Like<\/span><\/span> wine and the sensory experience, it can bring, each art piece aims to transport us visually and culturally through<\/span><\/span> the perspectives and universe of the author.<\/p>\n

This series is distinguished by a visual thread of yellow and blue about the emblematic “gu\u00e9rites” (tiny houses for workers) of the Domaine and the water theme of the OPEN-AIR MUSEUM.<\/p>\n

<\/span>If these installations offer an artistic immersion by their impressive scale, their conception was elaborated to propose a will of exchange and harmony between urban art and nature. They have been developed on the reflection of the four natural elements. The wooden poles mark the connection between the earth and the soil. The veils seize the wind to make the works<\/span><\/span> dance. Fire and water are materialized in the visuals by the color code of yellow and blue from the guerrilla houses and the symbolism of the passion for wine, art, and the theme of water.<\/p>\n

This series delivers for the first time to the public 175 years of archives from the Domaine de Mont d’Or. This temporal odyssey emphasizes the importance of preserving and promoting memory and heritage. These framed photographs are grouped into five themes. The public will have the opportunity to discover the landscapes of yesteryear, the stages of construction of the vineyard, the activity of the grape harvest, the characters, and the official documents of the time of the Domain. <\/p>\n

“<\/span><\/span>Vent d’Anges“<\/span><\/span> series<\/h3>\n

The “Vent d’Anges” series uses graffiti as a bridge between the past and present, between the medium of old photography and spray paint, and between human footprints and the natural environment.<\/p>\n

Inspired by archival images, these works<\/span><\/span> visually place humans at the heart of the Domaine. Suppose this series pays homage to the vineyard workers. In that case, it also questions the background and, more broadly, the notion of “<\/span><\/span>natural space“<\/span><\/span> in front of Human, the viticultural activity, the heritage, the dry-stone constructions, and the use of concrete for the supporting walls. The frescoes were all realized on ephemeral support covering a concrete wall to mark the questioning of this contemporary material.<\/p>\n

The transformation of the Domaine into an art trail could not be achieved without appropriating the yellow houses, known as “gu\u00e9rites”. Preserving the exterior visual identity of this trademark, the artistic interventions focused on the interior of the buildings. <\/p>\n

So many stories have unfolded in these little cottages. Today, two of them have been carefully converted into immersive installations, giving a voice to the walls… and to the artists. These two installations are an invitation to travel and poetry. <\/p>\n
