At the entrance to Saint-Maurice, a dazzling fresco transforms the cable car station, gateway to emblematic tourist sites such as the forts and the Grotte aux F\u00e9es. Visible from the train, this work offers a striking first impression of the town, bringing modernity and dynamism to a place steeped in history. <\/p>\n
Designed by Valais graffiti artist C\u00e9dric “Kesa” Mabillard, the fresco is inspired by water as a creative source. Through fluid, abstract forms, Kesa explores the complex identity of Saint-Maurice, capturing the omnipresent movement – from the current of the Rh\u00f4ne to the agitation of the rocks, from climatic fluctuations to intense rail traffic. <\/p>\n
Evoking Heraclitus’ maxim “You never bathe in the same river twice”, the fresco’s colorful waves embody not only the dynamics of the natural elements, but also the vitality of a city in constant evolution. The entanglement of shapes, subtly reminiscent of military latticework, echoes the region’s fortified past, creating a striking visual dialogue between heritage and modernity. <\/p>\n
This work transforms the station into a vibrant symbol, capturing the energy and constant renewal of Saint-Maurice. It resonates deeply with the town’s DNA, a place where history, movement and innovation intertwine harmoniously, offering travelers a poetic and colorful entry to this Valais commune rich in contrasts. <\/p>\n
