Beneath the icy waters of the Rh\u00f4ne, a 200-metre tunnel becomes the stage for a chromatic odyssey with ‘Rainbow’, an ephemeral work imagined by Jasm One and studio SIGMASIX. The installation celebrates the completion of a key stage in Sion’s district heating network, fusing art and technology in a striking dialogue between the warm waters of the network and the cold currents of the river. <\/p>\n

Divided into seven stages, each inspired by a color of the rainbow, ‘Rainbow’ transforms this underground structure into a spectacular immersive experience. From the red symbolizing the burning of waste to the purple illustrating the invisible warmth bringing the comfort of district heating, each section tells a story linked to water, nature and energy. <\/p>\n

In this two-meter-diameter corridor, cave art meets modern LED technology. Artists have dotted the walls with primitive-style motifs and pictograms, creating a contemporary cave in the image of the prehistoric site of Lascaux. <\/p>\n

Today, buried 8 meters below ground, ‘Rainbow’ lives on only through the trace of its documentation and the memories engraved in our minds. This ephemeral work, doomed to fossilize over time, may one day deliver a mysterious testimony to future generations. <\/p>\n

The 7 paintings that make up the artistic work :<\/strong><\/p>\n

  2. Orange – Particle fragmentation, translated into dynamic graphic forms.<\/li>\n
  3. Yellow – Light and solar energy, symbolized by bright luminous patterns.<\/li>\n
  4. Green – Nature and vegetation, with soothing, organic illustrations.<\/li>\n
  5. Blue – Water and underwater fauna, evoking the connection between the Mediterranean and the Alps.<\/li>\n
  6. Indigo – The sleeping city, where hot water arrives at night, represented by pictograms of houses.<\/li>\n
  7. Violet – Invisible, suggesting the comfort and everyday benefits of this technology.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
