The art piece

The art piece ‘A Flow to the Valley’, by artist duo Okean & Camil, now adorns the wall of Sion’s cinemas. This dazzling mural tells the story of the link between the majestic mountains and the ever-changing city. The vibrant colors of the peaks, where 80% of Sion’s water comes from, evoke the raw force of nature and the richness of the springs. In contrast, the monochrome of the city questions urban densification and the impact of the use of concrete. Through this play of contrasts, the artists offer a reflection on the fragile balance between human activity and the preservation of natural resources.

This project is the result of a collaboration between Eau de Sion and Art Valais. In 2021, a national competition was launched to imagine the new limited edition of the Sion decanter. The competition opened the door to urban artists from all over the country. In the end, “Okean & Camil”, from St Petersburg and Aarau, won the competition, extending the decanter’s message into the public space, and reinforcing the attention paid to the preservation of natural resources.
