The ascent to the mountain pasture revisited in Arbaz – In the heart of the village of Arbaz, artist Gaspard Louane reinvents the imagery of the poya with a vibrant and accessible mural.

This art piece was created as part of Art Valais OPEN AIR MUSEUM, the largest open-air urban art museum in the world. It joins the cantonal art trail on the theme of water and the hundred or so murals that can be freely discovered throughout the Valais. This unique museum is accompanied by the free ‘Art Valais’ mobile app, an interactive pocket guide that lets you discover all the secrets of the art piece: its geolocation, its authors and a micro-documentary revealing the history of the work.

Queens of the Mountain

It’s been a long winter, the snow has melted and the cold white landscape is giving way to green as the air warms up. The first flowers are showing their colorful petals, wildlife is waking up and outdoor life is returning to the village of Arbaz. As spring draws to a close, the queens of the mountains return to their alpine pastures in a joyous procession. This art piece depicts the village of Arbaz and the traditional ascent of the cows to the mountain pastures. Fribourg-born artist Gaspard Louane revisits the imagery of the poya through his urban, playful and accessible universe. He subtly creates a bridge between the generations, painting a mural that brings all ages together; the visual language appeals at first glance to the youngest, and the subject matter will warm the hearts of the oldest.

Beneath the apparent simplicity of the climb to the mountain pasture, Louane reveals a second, hidden itinerary: that of water, which becomes the mural’s true subject and thread. From the mountain tops to the river below, water runs through the entire Arbaz landscape. The dominant, repeated tones of blue and green mark the abundance and omnipresence of this resource. In this way, the artist highlights the village’s little-known role as a natural water tower, supplying the surrounding land and communes.

The art piece, installed at the heart of village life, links nature and community. It embodies the identity of Arbaz, a village considered a haven of peace, protected from natural hazards and nourished by its generous high-altitude springs. By uniting tradition and environment, this project celebrates the tranquillity and balance of a place where water is the source of life and prosperity.

Le street art s’installe à Cologny.
Septembre marque l’entrée de la commune de Cologny dans le parcours Art Valais OPEN AIR MUSEUM, le plus vaste musée d’art urbain à ciel ouvert. Porté par le Centre culturel du Manoir, l’événement fait dialoguer l’espace public et la création contemporaine, à travers deux interventions majeures : une fresque d’envergure réalisée par Alice Izzo sur les murs du nouveau complexe scolaire, et une exposition collective mettant à l’honneur les artistes suisses Jasm One, Gaspard Louane, Drü Egg et Rosalie Evard.

L’eau, filigrane de l’événement, traverse ces œuvres comme elle façonne les paysages : en silence, en profondeur. Fresque et exposition deviennent les deux rives d’un même courant artistique. Lacustre invite à s’y laisser porter – au fil de l’eau, au rythme de l’art.

Le Léman est un paysage aux enjeux multiples : mémoire historique, enjeux écologiques, transit territorial et créativité artistique. Cette table ronde a pour ambition de croiser les expertises et de structurer un débat autour de trois axes clés : la création contemporaine, la préservation écologique et les mobilités de demain. Lors de cette réunion publique, intervenant·es spécialisé·es présenteront successivement les défis et opportunités liés à chaque thème, avant de dialoguer collectivement. L’échange sera orienté vers l’identification de pistes concrètes et partagées pour nourrir les pratiques culturelles et les politiques territoriales autour du lac.

September marks Cologny’s entry into the Art Valais OPEN AIR MUSEUM, the world’s largest open-air urban art museum. Organized by the Centre culturel du Manoir, the event brings public space into dialogue with contemporary art through two major interventions: a large-scale mural by Alice Izzo on the walls of the new school complex, and a group exhibition featuring Swiss artists Jasm One, Gaspard Louane, Drü Egg and Rosalie Evard.

Street art settles in Cologny.
September marks Cologny’s entry into the Art Valais OPEN AIR MUSEUM, the world’s largest open-air urban art museum. Organized by the Centre culturel du Manoir, the event brings public space into dialogue with contemporary art through two major interventions: a large-scale mural by Alice Izzo on the walls of the new school complex, and a group exhibition featuring Swiss artists Jasm One, Gaspard Louane, Drü Egg and Rosalie Evard.

You too can make us dream.
Be one of the artists in this collective art piece inspired by Alice Izzo’s mural! You can create it on site or in the comfort of your own home. All you have to do is draw your fish, decorate the front and back… Let your imagination run wild, anything goes! Cut it out, then hand it in or mail it to the Manoir by October 31. Your fish will join our creative aquarium! You can pick it up at the Lacustre exhibition closing on November 2.

Lacustre vernissage

The exhibition opens on a suspended territory, between surface and depth, where the lake acts less as an image than as a plastic force. Through installations, mural interventions and graphic gestures, five contemporary artists – Jasm One, Gaspard Louane, Drü Egg, Rosalie Evard and Alice Izzo – propose a journey of art pieces traversed by the logic specific to aquatic environments: superimpositions, erasures, shifts, tensions. Each piece becomes a porous space, a fragment of mental landscape, a memory in motion.

This vernissage marks the entrance to this fluid exhibition, where you move around as if following a current: sometimes guided, sometimes bewildered. The opening evening was conceived as an immersion in the presence of the artists, prolonged in the gardens of the Manoir in an atmosphere conducive to encounters, exchanges and shared drifting.

A festive day to inaugurate Alice Izzo’s mural, in the presence of the artist, Issam Rezgui (founder of Art Valais OPEN AIR MUSEUM) and local authorities. Round table

“Lake Geneva in transformation: between practices and representations”.

Lake Geneva is a landscape with multiple challenges: historical memory, ecological issues, territorial transit and artistic creativity. The aim of this round table is to cross-reference expertise and structure a debate around three key themes: contemporary creation, ecological preservation and tomorrow’s mobility. At this public meeting, specialist speakers will successively present the challenges and opportunities associated with each theme, before engaging in a collective dialogue. The discussion will focus on identifying concrete, shared avenues to nurture cultural practices and territorial policies around the lake.
