To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Cité Printemps Foundation called on Art Valais to design a large-scale artistic project that would reflect the institution’s history, mission and vision.
The fresco, created by Geneva-based artist Seika, illustrates “the elevation and transformation of the human being through the guidance and educational support provided by Cité Printemps professionals”. The artist places the child at the heart of the subject, with “a gaze turned towards the future, towards transmutation, towards appeasement”.
This project is part of Art Valais OPEN AIR MUSEUM, the largest open-air urban art museum in Switzerland. It joins the cantonal route on the theme of water, offering a new urban work to discover in the heart of the city of Sion.

The Foundation
Cité Printemps is a reception and special education center for children and adolescents whose personal, family or social difficulties require a change of environment and specialized educational support.
The institution comprises three educational sectors. In Sion, four educational groups and an emergency accommodation group make up the first sector. The second sector is made up of two educational groups for teenagers, as well as studio apartments. Finally, a new educational group in Champsec/Bagnes makes up Cité Printemps’ third educational sector.
