The art piece

The ‘Transmutation’ art piece gracefully unfurls its colors on the façade of the Cité Printemps foundation, depicting a young girl reaching out to a hummingbird soaring above clear water and a flower in full bloom. The painting symbolizes transformation, freedom and elevation, like spring reborn after winter. Inspired by the journey of the institution’s residents, the art piece reflects their journey towards serenity, supported by the community. Each element – the blossoming flower, the free bird, the flowing water – symbolizes this healing process.

Created to mark Cité Printemps’ 50th anniversary, the mural embodies the institution’s founding values. The dialogue between artist Seika and the residents inspired this mural, in which water, the central symbol, embodies the spirit of resilience and fluidity of life in the face of obstacles.

With its visual scope and symbolism, ‘Transmutation’ doesn’t just embellish the urban landscape; it dialogues with it, telling the story of an ever-changing community. It places the child at the heart of the subject, looking to the future, and pays homage to the guidance, personal transformation and fulfillment that the home has inspired for five decades. The art piece stands as a beacon of color and hope for all residents, and for everyone passing through this part of the city.
