Domaine du Mont D’Or

Sion – Valais – Switzerland

The Festival

An anniversary means a gift.

To celebrate its 175 years of activity, the Domaine du Mont d’Or wishes to offer the public its most precious asset, its Domaine.

It is through a unique cultural experience, offering a large-scale immersive exhibition, free and accessible 24/7, as well as a vibrant program of events, that the public is invited to discover or rediscover the 24 hectares of the Mont d’Or vineyard.

The tradition is not the cult of ashes but the preservation of fire.

In 2023, this jewel of Valais heritage celebrates its 175th anniversary. This longevity is even more exceptional as the history of Mont d’Or is, first and foremost, the history of an alliance between man and nature. It is a magnificent terroir but challenging to tame, which had to be understood before being shaped. Vines that have seen generations of winegrowers repeat the same gestures over the seasons, sublime vintages and harvests spoiled by a hailstorm that quickly disappeared. A changing nature, an evolving climate, a prestigious past to remember, and an uncertain future to face, this is Mont d’Or, and this is the story we want to tell.
In 2023, Mont d’Or is joining forces with Art Valais Wallis (AVW) to imagine, build and animate a temporary exhibition installed in the very heart of the estate. The show will follow the rhythm of the wine season, starting in the spring and ending in the fall. Visitors can discover a series of works inspired by the past and question the future as they walk through the estate.

A year of celebrations and events

To celebrate this year in the best possible way, the Domaine du Mont d’Or also offers a rich program of events, combining concerts, stand-ups, brunches, guided tours, and tastings.
Scheduled to run from April 29 to November 11, 2023, this program has been developed with the significant cultural partner’s PALP Festival, Art Valais, and Vignes&Culture.
