The art piece

The art piece entitled ‘Lichtblume’ in Eischoll is a mural that subtly plays with the boundaries between inside and outside, depicting a living room where natural and energetic elements come together. The plant tapestry seems to blur our bearings, and although the armchair, table and radiator confirm that we are indoors, nature gently invades the space. Each picture on the wall illustrates energy elements that are crucial to Eischoll: hydroelectric power, the district heating plant, solar panels and the future wind farm. These images tell the story of the village, a pioneer in renewable energy since the early 20th century. The radiator in the foreground highlights district heating, a symbol of energy innovation in Eischoll, probably the first village in the Valais to adopt it.

Eischoll, a village with a population of 450, has distinguished itself over the past 15 years through the development of hydroelectric power stations, district heating networks and solar and wind power projects. By incorporating these references, the mural reflects the close link between the inhabitants, their land and energy, while highlighting the Lichtblume, a local symbol.

Inspired by the town’s commitment to energy transition, this artistic project questions the balance between natural resources, increasing energy production and our quest for comfort. Like a lilac-pink shoot emerging from a meadow, ‘Lichtblume’ invites us to reflect on the true nature of our needs and the place of comfort in our lives.
