The art piece

The result of a collaboration between Manuella Maury and Skelt, the fresco entitled ‘Il est revenu le temps de s’écrire’ skilfully weaves the link between literature and urban art on the palisades of the Valais Government Palace. This dialogue between two forms of expression finds its source in the symbolic setting of the site: a palace where the laws governing the canton are written. The choice of writing is therefore not insignificant, since it evokes the rigor of words in the art of governing, while allowing a poetic escape, a play between the lines.

Manuella Maury, author from the Valais and a leading figure on the Swiss literary scene, delivers an intimate text inspired by space. Graffiti artist Skelt, a pioneer of the graffiti scene in French-speaking Switzerland, transposes this prose into a visual work in which letters and message are revealed through the very essence of tagging. The fresco that adorns the palace’s palisades plays with words and symbols, inviting passers-by to reflect on the weight of writing in society and to dream beyond legislative lines.

Maury’s text, inscribed on the fresco, becomes an open letter addressed to the strollers and dreamers of Sion, inviting them to stop for a moment and listen to the city and the mountains. The fresco, with its narrative and poetic power, captures attention and provokes reflection, while subtly linking the artists and the public.
